Chapter 2: Past Events(2) [Part 2]
Xiao Yun looked at the woman in his arms silently. He had actually regained consciousness very early but strangely enough, he pretended to be passed out and listened to their conversation. He always thought that he knew DongFang Yu very well. But it turned out that the mediocre, kind and fragile woman was just a side of her which she wanted them to see.
Although his love rivals were strong and had caused a lot of trouble for him, he believed in DongFang Yu’s words. He thought that as she had said, it was because of their existence that he spends his time and thoughts on her. She said that he had gained her affection through his own capabilities. He was deeply engrossed in their relationship so he did not have enough time to contemplate or consider whether the amount he paid was worth what he obtained.
Was the woman in his arms already thirty-one years old?
Her pitiful appearance and the Identity Certificate provided by the Young Master of QiSha Hall made him believe that she was only 21 years old. But now looking at her round face, her single eyelids that were slightly swollen and red from crying did indeed have tiny crow’s feet at the corners.
Xiao Yun scanned her intently- a few freckles were scattered on the side of her slightly collapsed nose. Her lips were thin and pale, her chin was slightly short and round. Her neck was comparatively beautiful but there were circles on it too, showing the lose skin that had lost its youthfulness and slackened. Under that were narrow and thin shoulders. Her chest could almost be described as flat as a washboard. Although the waist was very thin, her whole body resembled that of a twelve or thirteen year old girl because of the lack of any sort of curves.
How could he feel that such an unattractive figure was so charming before?
“Yun~” DongFang Yu continued to call him in a coquettish tone.
It was the first time he looked at her with such scrutiny and she knew what was rolling in those black eyes was definitely not the pity he felt for her in the past.
The hull made a continuous buzzing noise as it shook violently. She felt like it could split like a broken eggshell at any time.Yang QiQi drank the wine leisurely and watched the man and woman gaze at each other. One would have thought it was going to be a touching reunion but only after a minute or so, Xiao Yun let go of his ‘beloved’ with complicated eyes.
“Yun~ Stop her! She is crazy! Quickly! Do it before it’s too late.” DongFang Yu pushed herself behind him.
Xiao Yun sighed and said weakly: “It’s too late. If I’m not mistaken, QiQi has already initiated the ultimate program. There are only the three of us on this boat. She wants to die with us. How is it possible that she might spare you?”
“AH! You lunatic! If you want to die, go die by yourself then! Why do you want to drag me?! I will kill you! I will kill you!!” DongFang Yu jumped up and rushed towards Yang QiQi madly with her two hands forming a claw-like shape to scratch her enemy.
Xiao Yun instinctively wanted to reach out and embrace Yang QiQi but as her cold gaze swept past him, he withdrew his hand.
Towards the very end of his life, he finally stopped going against her will for others but he was full of regrets.
When DongFang Yu reached near her, Yang QiQi kicked her chest. Seeing her mortal enemy being kicked, hitting the bulkhead hard and then slowly slipping onto the ground, Yang QiQi slowly retracted her foot and whispered, “I have wanted to do this from a long time ago. Although I never beat a woman, you are an exception, DongFang Yu.”
DongFang Yu couldn’t breath smoothly. She clutched her chest and spewed out a mouthful of blood. She raised her head and stared at Yang QiQi: “Why? It’s not my fault that Yun abandoned you and chose me. Why are you doing this to me?! It is for Yun, right? Isn’t it?! Okay! I will return him to you!”
“Return him to me?” Yang QiQi laughed with a ‘puchi’ sound and glanced at Xiao Yun, who had lowered his head. She thought something for a moment, then looked at DongFang Yu and smiled even more gently, “You want to give Xiao Yun back to me? Ah, I must have heard it wrong, right? I remember that when the reporter interviewed you, you said your love for Xiao Yun is deeper than the sea and you wanted to live and die with him.”
Yang QiQi’s kick brought her sanity back. She now knew better than ever that although the power on the side of the ‘Goddess of War’ is weak, her biggest reliance Xiao Yun, did not intend to defend her. So she collapsed to the ground while crying, “What I said was the utter nonsense which men like to hear! Miss Yang, I will return him to you. Please let me go, I don’t want to die! Please! You… you are noble and beautiful and your future is limitless. Why would you choose to die? Please stop the boat. I will never steal a man from you again. Really! Believe me! Miss Yang, I was wrong, I kowtow before you!”
DongFang Yu knelt on the ground and knocked her head. Hearing the ‘bang!’ ‘bang!’ sounds made by her forehead smashing against the floor, Yang QiQi could tell that her fear was real.
Yang QiQi looked at Xiao Yun with a mocking smile at the corner of her mouth: “President Xiao, is this the woman you were defending at all costs with all you got?”
Such a timid woman who was fearful of death can grovel even to her arch-enemy in order to survive without any dignity. If Yang QiQi were to ask her to lick the soles of her shoes now, DongFang Yu would probably do it too.
Weakness was not the same as greed for life and fear of death.
Xiao Yun closed his eyes. He didn’t want to admit that the woman who was kneeling on the ground now and performing those bloodied kowtows was actually the treasure he had once held onto his palms.
Particularly when he once abandoned such an excellent fiancée for this woman and even paid a huge compensation for it. He also knew that he had made himself and his family bear the bad reputation of betrayal.
